George Rwabajungu is the new chief executive officer of Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Ltd (UETCL), this website has learnt.
UETCL, incorporated in 2001, is charged with generation and transmission of most of the electricity used in Uganda.
Rwabajungu, who until now, was the company’s manager for finance, accounts and sales, takes on the position following a period of vacancy.
Valentine Katabira, UETCL’s deputy chief executive, has been serving as acting CEO.
With close to two decades in leadership positions, George Rwabajungu has previously worked with National Housing Construction Company as chief financial officer and Uganda Railways Corporation as an administrative officer and financial advisor.
He also worked with Map Switch Uganda, a financial technology company, as financial director.
This is the company he left to join UETCL.
A holder of a bachelor of commerce in accounting from Makerere University and a master of business administration from University of Leicester, Rwabajungu Chartered Certified Accountant fellow.
UETCL could not immediately be reached for comment.
