Police say they have dispatched personnel at William Street in Kampala to support the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council as it takes over “Muslim properties in Central Division, Kampala”.
Most of these properties had been illegally sold.
On a call, Police Spokesman Patrick Onyango said they started with those located along William Street.
Pictures taken by police show some of the properties that are being taken over the Supreme Council.
“The Government of Uganda reached out to the people who had acquired the properties and they had an understanding to have the properties to be returned to Uganda Muslim Supreme Council,” Onyango said in a Sunday morning statement.
“Today, we are providing security for the smooth hand over and takeover of the properties by the rightful owners.”
