Sarah Kanyike, who was weeks ago picked for a job at Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), has now been named a minister of state for disability and elderly.
The position had been vacant for a while.
Kanyike, who had been serving as Kampala deputy lord mayor, was in June announced as a nominee for a position of director of gender, community services and production at KCCA.
But in a July 23 statement, Paul Wabwire, on behalf of clerk to parliament, notified the parliament Appointments Committee that she would be meeting them for scrutiny.
“… the Appointments Committee is scheduled for Tuesday 28th July, 2020 at 10am in the Conference Hall… to interact with Sarah Kanyike, the presidential nominee — minister of state for disability and elderly.”
After learning that Kanyike had scored a job from the president, the Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago replaced her with Doreen Nyanjura.
