Simon Kasyate, who recently resigned from Uganda Electricity Generation Company Limited (UEGCL) where had been serving as head of Communication and Corporate Affairs, has joined Mastercard Foundation’s subsidiary in Uganda.
He’ll head the foundation’s communications unit.
The foundation, which is operated by financial services giant Mastercard, develops programs primarily in education, employment and agriculture fields.
Kasyate resigned from UEGL on July 17.
“Mr. Simon Kasyate – Head Communication and Corporate Affairs resigned from this position with effect from 17th July, 2020 after 4 monumental years of dedicated service at Uganda Electricity Generation Company Limited,” UEGCL tweeted, adding: “Our best wishes to Simon in his endeavours ahead.”
According to his LinkedIn profile, Kasyate joined UEGCL in that position in May 2016 after leaving Eskom Uganda Ltd, where he had been a corporate affairs manager.
A holder of a master of Arts in International Relations and Diplomatic Studies from Makerere University, Simon Kasyate has also worked with the European Union as press and information officer and a reporter with the Nation Media Group (Daily Monitor and NTV Uganda as reporter and news anchor).
Kasyate went to Ntare School and St. Mary’s College Kisubi for his ‘O’ and ‘A’ level education respectively before joining Makerere University to pursue a bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences, Social Administration, Gender and Development Studies.
